Spreading Kindness and Hope: How CVG Cares Supports Local Charities and Causes

At Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, giving back to the community is a core value known as “CVG Cares”. The airport, in collaboration with its partners, participates in numerous service projects throughout the year to help improve the lives of individuals and communities in the surrounding areas. These projects range from food drives to park cleanups to holiday gift-giving. CVG Cares is a great way for organizations to make a positive impact, and we are proud to share some of the ways in which CVG Cares at our airport.

One of the ways in which CVG Cares is through a program called “Flight to the North Pole”. This program is designed to bring holiday cheer to children who may not have the opportunity to experience it otherwise. CVG, in partnership with the Kentucky and Indiana Make-A-Wish chapters, arranges for children with life-threatening illnesses to take part in a pretend flight to the North Pole, complete with snow, elves, and Santa Claus. CVG and its partners also provide holiday gift baskets for the children participating in the event.

CVG Cares also includes an initiative to improve the environment in our community. Throughout the year, airport staff and volunteers participate in litter cleanups in the neighborhoods surrounding the airport. In addition, CVG conducts a program called “Green Umbrella”, which encourages employees to use alternative means of transportation such as carpooling, bicycling, or walking. These efforts help to reduce air pollution and promote healthy lifestyles.

Another major initiative of CVG Cares is “Food for Thought”, a program in which CVG collects non-perishable food items for a local food bank. This program is especially important for families whose children receive free or reduced-price lunches during the school year. During the summer months, these families may face additional challenges in providing enough food for their children. Food for Thought helps to bridge this gap and ensure that no child goes hungry.

CVG Cares also includes a program known as “Tools for Schools”, which provides school supplies and backpacks to local students in need. This program is particularly important as many students start a new school year without the essential supplies needed to succeed in the classroom. CVG, together with its partners, helps to ensure that all students have the resources they need for a successful school year.

Finally, CVG Cares includes support for various charitable organizations in our community. For example, CVG’s airline partners have donated to the Ronald McDonald House, which provides housing and support for families with children in the hospital. CVG has also partnered with the Cincinnati Zoo, sponsoring various events throughout the year to help support the zoo and its mission to protect endangered species.

At CVG, we are committed to making a positive impact in our community through our CVG Cares program. We believe that it is our duty to give back to the community that we serve and that everyone can make a difference. Through the various initiatives of CVG Cares, we have been able to help bring holiday cheer to sick children, improve the environment, combat hunger, provide school supplies, and support charitable organizations.
