Many are interested in the question of non-standard interior doors. Today, contrary to the promises of liberal economists, the market for some reason does not dictate a variety of models, but, on the contrary, reduces the number of options to two or three varieties of one model. In advertising materials you can see dozens of varieties, but in practice in the store you will be offered only a few. This is dictated by the rather stringent conditions of the position of manufacturers in the market.
The Example
For example, we are interested in size. In almost any manufacturer, the standard size range of doors for each model includes 12-16 theoretically possible options for size. But you are unlikely to find it in a warehouse, say a door measuring 2200 x 600 mm. Not to mention the fact that the size range itself is 600 – 900 mm in width and 1900-2200 mm in height drives the buyer into fairly rigid frames.
- And if the doorway is higher than 2200 mm?

The seller is likely to advise you to reduce or increase the opening. And, in principle, in terms of money spent, time and effort, he will almost always be right.
- But if there is no way to resize the opening?

Few manufacturers will offer, say, a semicircular-top door to an arched opening. Or a door with a small door below for pets. Such doors are almost always made to order in small carpentry shops and cost a lot of money. Unfortunately, not all buyers, even experiencing the need for custom solutions, are aware that in fact there are non-standard doors. To formulate your order, you need to know what options exist. Let’s look at the types of non-standard home doors.
Interior doors of custom sizes and shapes
Non-standard openings are found in houses of an old construction, in rooms rebuilt or redeveloped, in buildings of an original construction, modern apartments of free planning, etc.
If the opening is arched, then a compromise is possible – an ordinary door with glass , the top of the arch is decorated with a semicircular window. But in this case, you still have to go to the carpentry workshop to make a special box, and also make sure that the design of the door matches the design of the window. Or order a door to the arched opening.
There are situations when the opening is very wide, for example 2300 mm. Here, even two canvases of 900 mm each will not save the situation. In such cases, four-door doors with central opening flaps can be installed. In general, variants of two-, three- and four-floor doors, which today are almost never found in modern buildings, were widely used before.
