Tips to buy rugs for kids’ room

Rugs are an important factor in adding up that cozy factor to a room. Buying a kid’s rugs can be good because of a variety of colors and inspiring designs. You should know what to look for when buying a kid’s rug so your child will benefit from the choice you make. Here are some things to consider before buying a rug for your children.

Size

First and foremost, choosing the right size is where you need to begin. Kids usually don’t have king-sized beds, so you won’t be spending a huge amount for gigantic rugs. However, it is important to buy the biggest one you can afford and will fit spaciously in the room.

A rug on both sides of the bed, as well as the end

You can choose a rug that fits completely under the bed. The two-thirds method is good because moving nightstands isn’t necessary to vacuum under them. Having the rug stop before the nightstand can just run dry underneath. If you’re on a tight budget, you can go with runners instead.

Buy a runner for each side of the bed, or only one side of the bed is against a wall, and still get the looks of a large oversized floor covering. There are many color and pattern options in smaller rugs, and they’re very affordable. It can be dragged out during the seasons and move them easily for sweeping and mopping.

Material

When it comes to kids’ rooms, the material you choose is really important. There are countless choices out there, but not all of them are suitable for children.

Crusty play dough, play forts, and the continuous driving of hot wheels cars, a kid’s rug can take a beating. Look for materials that are easy to clean and hold up to lots of wear and tear.

Durable materials for kids

Wool

Wool rugs stand in the test of time. They’re soft, plush, and easy to clean. Most blends are stain-resistant, so it’s a good option for your messy little guy or girl. When you unroll a new wool rug, it will shed a bit, but afterward, it will get settled.

Cotton

These rugs are thin and lightweight. Usually, they are reversible and can be flipped if your child accidentally causes a locked-in stain. As they are so thin, you can’t count on these rugs to be a place they’ll want to lay on and read their favorite books

However, they’re great for playing because they provide a firm carpet that won’t bunch or get stuck in toys.

Polyester

Polyester rugs are the basic choice for most parents. They’re easy to discover, easy to clean, affordable, and have a standard amount of thickness. They are available in a huge variety of patterns and colors, and they can be layered on top of cotton or jute rugs for an added amount of texture. When choosing a polyester rug, make sure that you get what you pay for. Cheaper rugs can fade and the backing can flake off causing a mess to sweep up constantly.
